It’s time to thank your lucky flying purple octopi Detroit! 10-time Grammy Award winning vocalist Adele will soon be melting souls with tales of heartbreak and love in two sold-out performances right here in Auburn Hills. The record-breaking Londoner’s first North American tour in five years touched down on July 5th in St. Paul, Minnesota and will be captivating audiences across the nation before wrapping up on November 21st at a graciously rescheduled show in Phoenix, Arizona.
The soulful twenty-eight year old broke sales records in both the US and the UK with the 2015 release of 25, her first full-length album since her incredibly popular sophomore release 21 in 2011. According to Billboard Music Awards, 25 sold 3.38 million copies within a week of release, the first album in history to do so. Her hit single “Hello,” which preceded 25’s worldwide distribution, sold an unprecedented million copies in its first week of release and the video for “Hello” published in October 2015 has been viewed over 1.5 billion times.
Her previous album, 21, smashed sales records worldwide and established Adele as one of the top of female recording artists of all time. Billboard Music Awards lists 21 as the Greatest Album of All Time (Billboard 200 Albums), edging out such titans of the industry as Michael Jackson’s Thriller and—I’m not kidding—the Number 2 Greatest of All Time Billboard 200 Albums… The Sound of Music.
Adele will be performing 2 sold out shows at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Sept. 6 & 7 at 7:30pm
